New "green home" design by Pardee in San Diego

More and more couples in the US are ordering separate master bedrooms in their new homes to help ensure a more harmonious marriage, research suggests.

Now, since the BBC has used this swanky four poster to illustrate the text, one can only assume that it does indeed represent the typical American boudoir, no?

Wow, I wish my bedroom looked like that, it's about the double the size of our current room so I'd be happy to continue sharing with my hubby!

Wow. That is one sweet bedroom. I can't imagine having TWO of those!

We have a bed sort of like that but not near the room or the accessories... Oh and my bedroom? Smells badly... Well, only when I walk in and my hubby's been in there for hours sleeping. Fart smell... Not easy to fall asleep with.

I still share a room with hubby and our bed is similar to that one but we don't have a fireplace. I'd love to have one in the bedroom though. Very romantic. Maybe I should tell hubby I would want sex more if we had a fireplace in our room.

We just moved into a house with an extra bedroom. My 2 year old volunteered that x would be my room and y would be daddy's room.. I must admit I thought about it for a sec

No, I think the coziness, the cramped style, his undies on the floor, all of that make me feel close to him. I'll take our 3BR any day over that!

Though I do like the decor.

My husband works a lot of shift work so two bedrooms would be IDEAL in our world. We only started sleeping in the same room since we moved to a smaller house that had no guest bedroom. My mother in law can't figure out how we ever managed to conceive children :0)
